Capital Region Hosts Annual Food Drive

JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Capital Region Medical Center hosted their annual food drive April 6 – 10, raising over $6,400 and donating 392 pounds of food to benefit the Mid-Missouri Samaritan Center in Jefferson City.

Each year Capital Region’s employee engagement committee, “Capital Crew” organizes a food drive for the Samaritan Center, collecting both food and monetary donations from Capital Region employees and volunteers. This year, the organization’s efforts were bolstered by a donation challenge to the Capital Region Physician group, initiated by Dr. Michael Sands, internal medicine.

Dr. Sands, a long-time member of the Jefferson City community, says, “With all of the uncertainty in our world right now, and people in our own community facing economic hardships, there seemed no better time than now to encourage my colleagues to help those in need. I extended the challenge to our physician group to match or beat my own donation, and I am pleased to say that they rose to the task!” Sands states, “We raised over $4,000 from the physician group alone. I could not be more proud to be a part of such an amazing and supportive organization.”
