JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Capital Region Medical Center would like to congratulate Kelsey Chrisman, Healthy Communities school coordinator and Ashley Varner, Healthy Communities community coordinator on their recent achievements.
In their role at Capital Region Corporate and Community Health, Chrisman and Varner are coordinators of the Healthy Schools Healthy Communities (HSHC) Grant with Missouri Foundation for Health. Kelsey Chrisman received the Engagement Expert Award for her work with Jefferson City Public Schools HSHC grant, and Ashley Varner received both the Media Maven Award and Engagement Expert Award for her work with the Jefferson City Public Schools HSHC grant.
In addition to Chrisman and Varner’s accolades, Capital Region was able to see the success of the schools that it partner’s with through HSHC. Morgan County, Callaway Hills and Eldon schools were all recognized for their triumphs throughout the program. The impact of the actions of the grant demonstrated that the interventions performed resulted in a 5.3% reduction in childhood obesity in Eldon Schools (over the complete five year grant; exceeding the five percent goal) and a 2.5% reduction in childhood obesity for Jefferson City Public Schools (for the first three years of the grant). While the Versailles HSHC grant has not yet realized the same success, they and the Jefferson City Public Schools will continue for two more years of striving to reach the goal of five percent reduction in childhood obesity.
Capital Region is proud to partner with a positive impacting organization that shares a common goal of improving the health and wellness in the communities we serve. For more information about this partnership, please contact Tiffany Rutledge, supervisor of corporate and community health at email@example.com or 573.632.5591.
