Capital Region Receives Donation from Eagles Auxiliary

JEFFERSON CITY, MO – The local Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 2693, recently presented a generous gift to the Capital Region Medical Foundation.

On April 20, the Eagles held the 2018 Sip for Life event, which raises funds for the Goldschmidt Cancer Center. From this event, the Eagles were able to donate $4,456.68, which will go towards the new Linear Accelerator that delivers radiation to our cancer patients. Dr. Jay Allen, Radiation Oncologist, has told us that this new Linear Accelerator (LINAC) brings advanced treatment options to our Cancer Center patients. The LINAC customizes high energy x-rays or electrons to conform to a tumor’s shape to destroy cancer cells while sparing surrounding normal tissue. It features several built-in safety measures to insure in will not deliver a higher dose than prescribed.

Nationally, the Eagles donate millions of dollars each year with the mission of doing good in their communities. Through the years, Capital Region Medical Center has been the recipient of over $123,000 from the Eagles to fund various causes.

Rita Kempker, CFRE, Foundation Director at Capital Region Medical Center, says of the donation, “The Eagles are such a wonderful group who have raised thousands of dollars for Capital Region for various projects such as the Cancer Center, the Cardiac Center and the Diabetes Program. We thank them for their tremendous support of CRMC and the Goldschmidt Cancer Center.”
