JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Capital Region Medical Center’s 2019 Co-Physician of the Year Awards were presented at the annual Board of Governors meeting and dinner on Monday, Dec. 2 at the Capitol Plaza Hotel and Conference Center.
This year the award was presented to two physicians who have walked their careers in healthcare hand in hand as husband and wife. Donna McCluskey, D.O. and Todd McCluskey, D.O. received their recognition among, friends, family and colleagues.
Both physicians knew they wanted to pursue careers in healthcare from young ages, Dr. Todd, as he’s known by his patients, even requested and got a Dr. Kildare doctor’s bag and stethoscope set as a boy. The McCluskeys met in medical school at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and married shortly after graduation. Their internships were completed at Charles E. Still Osteopathic Hospital in Jefferson City, which would later merge with Memorial Community Hospital to become Capital Region Medical Center.
Throughout the years they served patients in Missouri in Senath and for many years in Owensville before opening a primary care practice in Hot Springs, South Dakota, Dr. Todd’s home state. From there they would join Dr. Todd’s brother, Dr. Tabb at his practice in Hendricks, Minnesota.
Eventually, the pair retuned to Missouri and joined the Capital Region Physicians clinic system, providing primary care in California. Currently, Dr. Todd sees patients at the Capital Region Physicians – OMT & Acupuncture clinic and Dr. Donna serves in a locum capacity, providing care when needed.
Jay Allen, M.D., radiation oncologist with Capital Region Goldschmidt Cancer Center presented the McCluskey’s with their award stating: “However we address Drs. Todd and Donna they always seem to be as one. They are dedicated professionals beloved by their patients and communities and respected by their peers.”
