Capital Region Brings Robotic Surgery to the Capital City
da Vinci Xi

CRMC will be the first and only hospital in Jefferson City to offer Robotic Surgery

JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Capital Region Medical Center is elated to announce the acquisition of the most advanced da Vinci Xi Surgical System to date. The da Vinci Xi Surgical System can be used across a spectrum of minimally invasive surgical procedures and has been optimized for surgery in the areas of gynecology, urology, thoracic, cardiac and general surgery.

The da Vinci Surgical System is a tool that utilizes advanced robotic, computer and optical technologies to assist your surgeon with your operation. It does not act on its own and its movements are controlled by a highly trained, experienced surgeon. The da Vinci Surgical System has a 3D High Definition (3D-HD) vision system, special instruments and computer software that allow the surgeon to operate with enhanced vision, precision, dexterity and control. The 3D-HD image is highly magnified, so the surgeon has a close-up view of the area she or he is operating on. The da Vinci instruments have mechanical wrists that bend and rotate to mimic the movements of the human wrist – allowing the surgeon to make small, precise movements inside the body.

da Vinci Surgery is considered “minimally invasive surgery,” much like laparoscopic surgery but with enhanced operative capabilities.

Capital Region anticipates beginning use on the system in early April.
