The Show Me Better Health Series is a free six-week group education workshop series for adults living with a chronic condition. Some chronic conditions include arthritis, diabetes, fibromyalgia and heart disease as well as many others. The program was developed by researchers at the Patient Education Research Center at Stanford University to help people with chronic conditions gain self-confidence in their ability to manage their own health.
In this class, participants will learn how to:
- Improve knowledge about living a healthy life with a chronic condition
- Identify the latest medical and pain management approaches
- Develop an individualized exercise program
- Manage fatigue and stress more effectively
- Find solutions to problems caused by the chronic condition
- Identify ways to deal with anger, fear, frustration and depression
- Discuss the role of nutrition in chronic disease management
- Communicate with family, friends and healthcare providers in new ways
Classes meet for 2 ½ hours, once a week for six weeks. This series will be held on Wednesdays, Oct. 11, 18, 25, Nov. 1, 8 and 15 from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m.
