What is the ACE SCORE?
An ACE score is a tally of different types of abuse, neglect and other hallmarks of a rough childhood. According to the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) study conducted by the American Health Maintenance Organization Kaiser Permanente and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the rougher your childhood, the higher your score is likely to be and the higher your risk for later health problems.
Early childhood trauma generally refers to traumatic experiences that occur to children aged 0-6. These traumas can be the result of intentional violence - such as child physical or sexual abuse or domestic violence - or the result of natural disaster, accidents or war.
These events are free and open to the public.
