JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Capital Region Medical Center’s Medical Foundation is pleased to announce the 2017 scholarship recipients. Winners were selected based upon grade point average, college entrance exam scores, difficulty of classes completed and the student’s involvement in and contribution to school, church and community activities.
The Leon A. and Marian B. Taylor Endowed Scholarship winners are Phoebe Wilson from Helias High School and Katelyn Engelbrecht from Eugene High School. Wilson plans to become a physician, and Engelbrecht will be pursuing speech-language pathology.
Recipients of the Walter and Nancy Rottmann Scholarship include Bailey Conrad of Jefferson City High School who plans to become a physician or physician’s assistant, as well as Haley Kempker and Grant Bryan, both future nurses from Helias High School.
The Dr. Jack and Jimmy Kay Sanders Scholarship recipients are Shaina Anderson of Jefferson City High School who plans to become a physician and Taylee Soukup of Blair Oaks High School who will pursue nursing.
Receiving the Helene Kemper Jackson Memorial Nursing Scholarship is Mikala Veith, Mt. Vernon High School, who has plans to become a nurse.
The Greg Stockard, Jr., Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Eli Raithel of Jefferson City High School who looks forward to becoming a medical physicist.
Scholarships are awarded to seniors graduating from area high schools who will be seeking a degree in a medically related field.
